Following the commencement of the base building upgrade at 2 King William Street, an opportunity was identified by the Palmer Group to construct a roof top bar in this building to capitalise on a unique opportunity. In partnership with the Building’s Owner, the Duxton Group, the concept began to take form.
Cook Building took a lead role in collaborating with the client, architect, certifiers, and local authorities, to convert the visions into a reality. This process required significant levels of transparency and collaboration by all parties. This experience and understanding of build-ability was crucial to navigate the challenges of the project, into an award winning result.
The final solution involved the construction of a new structural steel deck just below the existing parapet level with structural steel framed loggia & bar, a new kitchen area contained within the northern stair/service area, a new toilet on the existing roof, a new fire stair and new lift to extend the access to the new roof terrace.
